West Side Tavern & Cold Beer Store

Another Wasatch/Squatter's Brewery, Tasting Room, and Beer Store.

Exterior of the West Side Tavern & Cold Beer Store (Wasatch & Squatters Brewery)

As time goes on here in Utah, I'm learning more and more that Wasatch and Squatters have a rather large presence in the beer game.

Found in the same area of Utah's many other breweries, the "West Side Tavern & Cold Beer Store" sure enough looks like a brewery out front with two large fermenting tanks out front. Despite the size of the building, the interior for customers is actually rather small.

Half of the space is dedicated to selling (cold) beer for takeout. Many coolers are present, filled with both the Wasatch and Squatters' beers.

The other half of the customer-accessible location is the West Side Tavern, which is a small tasting room. Here, there probably are not more than 12-15 seats available, but there is also a small patio to fit additional customers outside.

Here, they serve both Wasatch and Squatters' beers, as well as some specialty small-batch beers. The bartender described it as the best of both breweries coming together.

On the far side of the tavern, glass windows peer into the brewery itself and the canning lines for the beer. I'd love to stop in during working hours to see the process in action.

Really enjoyed the friendly staff and the unique beers offered on site. If you're looking for a great spot to be in and out quickly with some new brews, this might be a spot to try.

Know Before You Go

  • The beer store and tavern appears to be open roughly noon til 8 PM, seven days a week.

  • There is limited seating inside, so during the busy times, a seat may be tough to come by.

  • Shipping docks are located right by the parking lot, so use caution going in and out.

Just a few minutes from the intersection of the 15 and 80 freeways in South Salt Lake. Parking is available on site, but use caution as shipping trucks are moving in and out throughout the day.
