Utah's Very First Brewery!
In the 1980's when Greg Schirf arrived in Utah from Milwaukee, the state was without a brewery or even drinking for that matter. Greg would look to rectify this in 1986 and opened the Wasatch Brewery as the very first brewery in Utah.
The location would be Main Street in Park City, which is filled with restaurants and shopping. With a main drag that is attached to one of the largest resorts in the county, it was only appropriate that a local brewery would make its home here.
The Wasatch Brewery sits at the top of Main Street, so its best to park close by or prepare for a bit of an incline hike at 7,000 feet elevation.
Surrounded by rolling hills and some of the most epic ski spots on earth, the brewery is easy to spot with its blue exterior and large glass windows.
Upon entering the brewery, you'll immediately see some of the brewing equipment through the large glass windows and can take a seat on the bench made from old skis.
Beyond the waiting area is a large bar, two stories of dining area, and a small outdoor patio.
Their beer offering has several flagships available year-round as well as many seasonal ones. Polygamy Porter is probably the most well known, strictly because it gets a laugh out of anyone that sees it on the menu. There are also many fruit beers, including the Blueberry Hefeweizen, Apricot Hefeweizen, and a Lime Sour Ale.
Fun seasonal beers include Black O' Lantern (Imperial Stout x Pumpkin Ale) and Guava Rosa (Mexican-Inspired Ale brewed with real guava).
You can get four of their beers in a flight cut in the shape of the state of Utah.
The views of Main Street alone are worth a visit to this brewery, but any beer fans owes it to themselves to stop by Utah's first brewery.
