Theme park with its own zip code continues to grow and innovate.
Universal Studios Hollywood is one of those locations that continues to change year over year and requires you to occasionally go back to keep up with all of the changes.
Even if you do not ridge any of the rides, simply going to experience the different "worlds" that they are created is an experience in itself. The Harry Potter and Simpsons worlds are extremely thorough and even Super Silly Fun Land is entertaining.
Most of the rides have shifted to a 3D experience, including the King Kong and Fast & Furious portions of the studio tour.
There are still a variety of included shows: Animal Actors, Special Effects Show, and Waterworld. Despite being over 20 years old and a box office flop, the Waterworld show remains the highlight of the park. The arena gets filled to the brim with fans cheering loudly during the pre-show festivities. If fans are so inclined, they can sit in the Splash Zone, but must use caution as it may not be a few splashes, but rather a full-on drenching. Not to ruin the show, but the plane crash shown below remains my favorite part.
As the clock strikes noon, the crowds really begin to pile in and it becomes a bit less enjoyable as getting around is definitely more challenging.
I'd recommend this park over Disneyland or Knott's Berry Farm, but I know many will feel very differently.
Know Before You Go
Admission pricing is based on the day of the week that you go.
The park will error on the side of caution if there are any mechanical failures on the ride, so you may get turned away. If there is a ride you absolutely intend on riding, be sure to go early and check it off vs risking having it break down in the back half of the day.
Beer and wine are available for purchase throughout the park.
Parking can be expensive, so understand the fees before you go.
