Table Rock Beach

Updated: Mar 19, 2019

Small, hidden beach in Laguna offers great exploration opportunities!

Table Rock is one of the few beaches in Laguna that are not immediately accessible via with Coastal Highway, so it's easy to miss.

Like so many other beaches in Laguna, parking is challenging to come by, so you'll often have to park on residential side streets and make your way down to the cove.

Once you locate Table Rock Drive, descend the long staircase down to the sandy beach. You'll find the beach divided into two sections with a large rocky area in the ocean in between.

The most compelling part of this beach is a home at the south end that is built upon rocks with a sea cave beneath it. This home and smaller beach can probably only be accessed at low tide with some rock scrambling or swimming out and around.

Unfortunatley, this beach isn't the best for swimming as the water has a lot of jagged rocks within, but there are two smaller parts where you can enter the water safely. We also spotted many jumping off of rocks into the water at the south end, but this must be done with caution as an incoming wave could toss you into the rocks.

In the rocky area in the middle of the beach, you'll find the flat rock that the beach was named for. On a calm day, there are all sorts of tide pools and mollusks to investigate. You may want to wear shoes here and use caution not to step on any of the sea life.

Overall, I think of this beach more of an exploration beach than a swimming beach. It's great to catch some sun and explore some interesting areas, but there are better choices when it comes to swimming.

Know Before You Go

  • Limited shade on this beach - plenty of sunscreen and water is a must!

  • Hope you're in shape! Lots of steps to get to and from this beach.

  • Accessing the cave is likely only feasible at low tide.

  • Water shoes may be helpful here as there are lots of rocks and shells in the water.
