Brews that are unorthodox in both ingredients and experience.
Shades' beers are easily found throughout Salt Lake and Park City, but their brewery experience is on another level.
Finding the brewery itself is a bit of a challenge as its in a nondescript location and we almost missed it during our visit. Once inside however, it's rather amazing how extensive the interior is.
Inside, you'll immediately find some merchandise, a cooler of beer, and the hostess. As you walk into the brewery proper, you'll notice gargantuan pallets of beer on the way to the bar. The brewery seems to be in action all around you.
As you approach the bar area, you'll notice a lot going on. There are traditional taps, seltzer taps, and even... a frozen beer slushy machine.
The best part of Shades is the back patio. There are multiple picnic tables, many covered with sun "shades" to keep it cool in the summer months. The restrooms are found in a small building next to the patio that is loaded with barrels and old brewing equipment.
You've probably tried the more traditional Shades' beer, but you have to stop in to try some of the more unique brews including Guavalicious (Sour), Yams Y'All Cream Ale (Sweet Potato, Pecan, Maple, Marshmallow), Shamrock Shake Cream Ale (Mint, Cotton Candy, Vanilla), and Blackberry Mint (Sour).
By now you're probably sold on trying some of these concoctions. If not, you owe it to yourself to stop in on a warm day and try the beer slushy or grab some friends to play some board games on the patio. With some of the cans that I took to go, I'll be enjoying this brewery for the next few weeks to come.

There is a lot going on within the brewery. Use caution when walking around to avoid injury.
The restrooms are found in the furthest part of the brewery and only serve one person at a time. Don't wait to go!
