Sawleaf Vietnamese Cafe - Irvine

Updated: Apr 12, 2019

The latest entrant in the fast casual trend found in the Irvine Marketplace

Tofu Vermicelli

I have lived near this restaurant for nearly two years now and only stumbled upon it when searching for a new Vietnamese option.

The menu is kept very simple, with options of Pho (Rice Noodle Soup), Banh Mi (Sandwiches), and Bun (Vermicelli Noodle Salads).

It took a bit of time to place our order as there was only a single cashier station, and as easy as they make the ordering process, I would have expected the line to move along a bit faster.

The dining area was small, with some substantial imagery above the tables.

Both my wife and I tried the Vermicelli Noodle Salad as (at time of writing), it was exclusive to the Irvine location.

The tables came equipped with Sriracha, Hoisin Sauce and an unbranded Chili Sauce.

The portion sizes were reasonable with the tofu chunks being much larger than I'm typically accustomed to.

All in all, this will continue to be a great place for us to stop prior to a movie or after doing some shopping at the Marketplace.  A great value for the prices that are charged..

Know Before You Go

  • Restaurant tucked in between several others - difficult to see when driving by as its obstructed by the movie theater.

  • Small space so a table may be tough to come by at dinner time on weekends.

  • Appeared to be only a single cashier, so the line could back up quickly.

  • 3 broth options - all made from beef or stock.
