The most popular attraction of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest.
State Road 150 has a lot of attractions, but Mirror Lake may just be the most popular. In fact, the road is nicknamed the Mirror Lake Highway and the town of Kamas even has a gas station named for it.
With so much popularity, visitors flock to this spot on the weekends and it's often difficult to find a parking spot. Many visitors will simply start creating spots along any paved area and traffic quickly backs up.
If you are fortunate enough to land a spot, there is a "boat launch" by the restroom. Once your paddleboard, kayak, or other floating vessel is ready, most launch at the southeast corner.
Before you even begin your paddle, you're likely to notice dozens of other visitors swimming, hiking, fishing, or just plain taking it all in.
As you begin your paddle, you're likely to notice Bald Mountain to the west. Hiking this mountain provides incredible views of the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest and we did as a primer before our paddle.
As you paddle along the shore, the water clarity is incredible and you're likely to see hoards or fish and many fallen trees.
You could probably paddle around the edge of the lake in a fast as 30 minutes, but the scenery was so beautiful that we took roughly 90 minutes. When the wind was calm, the clouds above would create a beautiful reflection on the water.
It's about as beautiful paddling spot as you'll find, so you could spend all day here. We're looking forward to getting back for some hiking!
