Wood-Fired Pizza & Beer Flight at Level Crossing Brewing Co

Finding that South Salt Lake was a hotbed for breweries, with Grid City, Shades, and the West Side Tavern, we had to round out our brewery list with Level Crossing.

The name Level Crossing refers to "where an old dirt road meets a railroad crossing a crossroads where people can meet to share their stories and enjoy a laugh." The owner Mark Medura grew up next to a Level Crossing where friends and family would gather every Sunday. During this tradition, the values of union, devotion, and generosity became core values.

Upon deciding to enter the brewing industry, Mark visited 100's of breweries and decided upon three "musts" for his brewery.

1) Great Beer - few breweries succeed with bad beer.

2) Authenticity - a story of how you got here, becoming part of an ongoing story.

3) Extraordinary Experience - great food, memorable staff creating lasting memories.

In the brewery logo is a red feather. The feather represents a family tradition of always leaving an empty place setting at the dinner table. The intent to to represent hospitality and inclusion, always a spot for another.

Skeleton in truck at entrance to Level Crossing Brewery

Upon approaching the brewery, you'll notice both a main building and an extensive area for outdoor seating. Both sides of the brewery have sizable artwork that can't be missed for those passing by.

Once you step inside, you're greeted by a host and can't miss the truck with a skeleton inside.

The tasting room is beautifully decorated with a mural at the entrance, framed photos, brick on the center wall, and a contrast wood ceiling.

The bar area is just a few steps from the entrance and the pizza stove is located at the opposite end of the dining area.

While at the brewery, you're likely to have a draft, you must see the artwork on the cans of beer. The logos have an extremely unique look and would be great as a t-shirt or wall art. There appears to be roughly eight flagship beers including Suss It Out Rye IPA, Soul Rex DIPA, Dallas Alice Belgian-Style Blonde Ale, Jazz Loon Lager, Bat Country Blonde Ale, and Sinday Pale Ale.

Beyond just the beers, they offer food on site with sandwiches, salads, and most importantly wood-fired pizza. They have over ten varieties of their pizza and are surprisingly nimble when serving them up.

So yet another great brewery in South Salt Lake, be sure to stop by when in the area.
