Eskimo Candy - Kihei, Maui

Updated: Mar 1, 2019

Popular pokè spot in Kihei with quirky decór.

4 flavors of Eskimo Candy Pokè: Skoyu, Furikake, Wasabi, & Spicy

For our last meal of our Maui trip, we had to get one more dose of the local pokè and Eskimo Candy was our targeted spot.

The name Eskimo Candy can be a bit misleading as there is no candy, but apparently it's what they call smoked salmon in Alaska.

We stopped by the small storefront, found off of some side streets in Kihei just before the lunch rush. We each ordered their pokè bowl, which comes with all 4 flavors (Shaya, furnace, wasabi, and spicy.

When you get your order, you'll find that it's not immensely dressed up, but rather a simple paper bowl with the pokè on top of white rice with wasabi aioli. Though it wasn't mentioned, it also included some seaweed salad in the middle of the bowl.

We both grabbed a fountain soda and were able to secure one of the limited tables outside.

It was a different experience with the four different marinated flavors in one bowl, so really enjoyable to not be tied to just one like many stateside options. It wasn't a tremendous serving, but enough for us to be content before our 5 hour flight home!

Location

A few short turns off of the Piilani Highway (31) in Kihei. There is street parking and a larger parking lot a hundred yards from the entrance (turn left after you see the sign).
