Dagwoods "Magical AF" Pizza

Santa Monica Pizza Spot makes a unicorn-inspired pizza pie!

Magical AF Pizza from Dagwoods in Santa Monica, CA

On a recent visit to Santa Monica, we were looking for a spot to eat where we could avoid all of the congestion by the pier and the promenade, so we drove a few blocks inland and stumbled upon Dagwoods.

We immediately noticed the two large slices of pizza painted on the exterior that were positioned in a manner that would mimic the trendy social media angel wings.

Upon entering, we noticed the large menu boards offering salads, pasta, sandwiches, calzones, and of course, pizza. In the bottom right of the menu, there was a colorful menu item shown with a unicorn known as the Magical AF Pizza. Below its name it read, "Rainbow edible glitter unicorn puke." Of course we had to try it.

We took a spot on the exterior patio, which turned out to be a bit of a mistake as every passerby stopped to comment on our pizza. Both the interior and exterior had a spacious, clean setting and I really enjoyed the Santa Monica silhouette painted on the wall as well as some other interesting decorations.

Closer to the entrance, they had a shelf full of games, which could come in handy if you're spending some time sampling all of the beer and wine options that they had on hand.

Eventually, our unicorn pizza was delivered and it was a sight to behold. Sure enough, the cheese had a glittery appearance with colors of pink, green, blue, and purple atop the cheese. After cutting off a slice, I had my first taste and was surprised to find that the glitter did not change the flavor or texture of the pizza. It tasted like a normal cheese pizza, but was certainly one of the best I've ever had (in California).

I later noticed the glitter had covered parts of my hands, face, and even my phone case, so this might be something to eat with a fork.

Glitter aside the pizza was incredible and the service was top notch. Though the Magical AF pizza was a fun experiment, I'd like to return and try more of their food options.
