Black Cow Cafe

Updated: Apr 12, 2019

Popular eatery on the main strip of Montrose.

Black Cow Cafe

For several years now, when we hike in the Pasadena/La Canada Flintridge area, we make it a point to schedule breakfast or lunch at the Black Cow Cafe.

The popularity of this restaurant is no secret, so visitors should be prepared for a short wait, although it typically goes by very quickly.

The menu is quite extensive, with the biggest challenge being making a choice. I typically go with one of their breakfast specials as they offer many unique items not found anywhere else.

The interior of the restaurant is quite rustic and the most compelling feature are the ceiling fans, all powered by a single conveyer system.

Without fail, the service has been impeccable with each visit and I highly recommend it for anyone in search of a great meal!

Know Before You Go

  • This is a popular restaurant, so expect a short wait.

  • Both indoor and outdoor tables are available.

  • They do not serve liquor, so some drinks are served with rice wine.

  • Restrooms are very small, so may be a wait during busy periods.

Location

Found on the main strip in Montrose. There is parking meters on the street, but we have frequently found plentiful free parking in the lot off of the Main Street (behind the pet store).
