House from Netflix movie becomes a popular selfie spot!
While commuting around the greater Los Angeles area, there are all sorts of locations to be found that were featured in big-screen movies or streaming services.
On a recent weekend, I was off to hike Monrovia Canyon Falls and as I was driving up Canyon Boulevard, I noticed that one particular house appeared very familiar.
With a quick internet search, I found that it was the house that Sandra Bullock took refuge in during the movie Bird Box (Netflix).
I found that fans of the movie have flocked to this location to snap a photograph in front of the house. Some wear blindfolds, others try to recreate scenes from the movie.
Of course, I decided to hop in on the action, grabbing a hankerchrief that I keep in my hiking pack for dust. I stood on the sidewalk and took a dozen selfies, hoping one would turn out. Several vehicles passed, all giving me sideways looks and trying to determine if a call to the police was in order.
Locals are likely accustomed to the influx of movie buffs as the community has appeared in many Hollywood flicks over the years. Though the owners were compensated $12,000 for the house to be in the movie, it's important that visitors respect their privacy and treat the property with respect so that others can enjoy it as well.
Know Before You Go
This is someone's private residence, so please be courteous of their property and privacy.
There is plenty of street parking nearby, but the road is rather busy, so important to use caution/common sense when crossing the street.
